Fix Revive Social sharing the wrong URL for imported posts
If your social share points to the original RSS source (or another unexpected URL) instead of your local WordPress post, one of your URL-source settings is likely overriding the permalink.
If an imported post links to the original RSS source
If you import content with Feedzy, the canonical URL setting can cause social platforms to use the original publisher URL instead of your local imported post URL.
If you want the local imported post to be the share destination, go to Feedzy > Settings > Miscellaneous and disable Add canonical URL to imported posts from RSS feeds.
For more details about how this setting works, see How to add canonical tags for imported posts in Feedzy?.
⚠️ Warning: Disabling Feedzy canonical URLs changes which page is declared authoritative for search engines. If you import duplicate third-party content, review SEO and attribution implications before disabling this option.
Check for other URL overrides
Other plugins or snippets can also override the URL used in shares, for example:
- Redirect plugins that replace destination URLs.
- SEO or canonical plugins that force external canonical URLs.
- Custom code that filters permalinks or share URLs.
- RSS-import custom fields mapped to external source URLs.
If the wrong URL is still shared after updating Revive Social and Feedzy settings:
- Temporarily disable URL, redirect, canonical, or RSS-import customizations.
- Share the same post again as a test.
- Re-enable customizations one by one until the URL changes again.
- Keep only the configuration that does not override the destination you want.
Test the corrected share
After saving your settings:
- Open the WordPress post you want to share.
- Share it again manually from the editor (or queue it again) so the new settings are applied.
- Check the shared post and confirm the preview and destination URL are correct.
Updating settings does not change social posts that are already published. You need to reshare the post to test and publish the corrected version.
