Fix Facebook Invalidated Session Error in Revive Social
If you receive the error:
Unable to share post for facebook. (FacebookResponseException) Error: Error validating access token: The session has been invalidated because the user changed their password or Facebook has changed the session for security reasons. You can also see this as a fix_fb_invalid_session error link, an "invalid session" message, an "expired token" message, or Facebook sharing entering error mode.
Why this error happens
Facebook controls access-token and session validity. Your Facebook connection can be invalidated or expired after password changes, security checks, session resets, or other Facebook-side account requirements.
When this happens, Revive Social can no longer post to Facebook until the account is authorized again.
Required fix: reconnect Facebook
Once the token is invalid or expired, Revive Social cannot refresh it without a new Facebook authorization. Reconnecting your Facebook account is required.
- In your WordPress admin area, go to Revive Social > Dashboard.
- Open the Accounts tab.
- Disconnect or remove the affected Facebook account if it is still listed.
- Connect the Facebook account again and complete Facebook authorization.
- Approve all requested Facebook permissions.
- Return to Revive Social and restart sharing.
Before contacting support
- Reconnect the Facebook account from Revive Social > Dashboard > Accounts.
- Confirm you approved all requested Facebook permissions during reconnection.
- Make sure the correct Facebook Page/account is selected in Revive Social.
- Restart sharing and check if new shares are sent successfully.
If reconnecting does not work
If Facebook still does not connect, continue with the Troubleshooting Guide for Facebook Account Connection Errors for page permissions, app access restrictions, and other Facebook API errors.
