Fix LinkedIn API Version Errors in Revive Social

If Revive Social fails to post to LinkedIn, check the error message in Sharing Logs first. The same root problem can appear with different log messages.

Symptoms in the Sharing Logs

You might see one or more of these LinkedIn-related errors:

  • 426 NONEXISTENT_VERSION
  • Requested version ... is not active
  • Cannot share to LinkedIn
  • submitted-url cannot be empty
  • empty upload url

Fix 426 NONEXISTENT_VERSION by updating Revive Social

If you see 426 NONEXISTENT_VERSION or Requested version ... is not active, LinkedIn is rejecting an API version that your current plugin version is using.

  1. Update Revive Social (free plugin) to the latest version.
  2. Update the Revive Social Pro Add-on to the latest version.
  3. Confirm both updates completed successfully in Plugins > Installed Plugins.

Update the plugin before reconnecting LinkedIn. Reconnecting first can keep the same failing API behavior if your installed version is still outdated.

Reconnect LinkedIn after updating

After both plugins are updated, reconnect your LinkedIn account so Revive Social refreshes the connection.

  1. Go to Revive Social > Dashboard > Accounts.
  2. Disconnect your LinkedIn account.
  3. Connect the same LinkedIn account again and approve permissions.
  4. Run a new share and check Sharing Logs.

If URL or upload URL errors continue

If the log still shows submitted-url cannot be empty, empty upload url, or another link-related LinkedIn error after updating and reconnecting:

  1. Go to Revive Social > Dashboard > Post Format.
  2. Select your LinkedIn account in the left panel.
  3. Enable Use URL Shortener (if it is not already enabled).
  4. Set URL Shortener Service to is.gd (or another available shortener instead of rviv.ly).
  5. Save your changes and test sharing again.
