How to connect Revive Social to Telegram

Introduction

Connecting your Telegram channel with the Revive Social plugin enables automatic sharing of your posts directly to your audience. This guide explains how to set up your Telegram bot, retrieve the channel ID, and use the Revive Social interface to finalize the connection.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Create a Telegram Bot

1. Open Telegram and search for @BotFather.
   
2. Start a chat with BotFather and send the command: /newbot.
   
3. Follow the prompts to name your bot and create a unique username ending in bot.
4. Once created, BotFather will provide an HTTP API Token. Copy this token—you’ll need it later in the Revive Social plugin.
   

Step 2: Make your Channel Public and Add Your Bot as an Admin to the Channel

1. Go to your Channel and make it Public, it requires switching the toggle to "Public Channel" and also setting the name for your channel in the Link field (ReviveSocialChannel in the example screenshot):
   
2. Then, go to your Telegram channel settings and navigate to Administrators.
   
3. Click on Add Admin and search for your bot using its username (e.g., @YourBotUsername).
   
4. Grant the bot necessary permissions, such as Post Messages.

📝 Note: If adding your bot as an admin using the browser version of Telegram doesn’t work, try the mobile app instead.

Step 3: Use the Revive Social Plugin to Connect

Once you have the channel ID and bot token, use the Revive Social plugin to complete the connection:

1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to the Revive Social plugin settings.
2. Go to the Telegram integration section.
3. Enter the following details in the plugin UI:
   • Group or Channel: Enter your channel username (e.g., @ReviveSocialChannel) for Channel or ID of a group that you can retrieve from URL, for example -4693316015 if URL is https://web.telegram.org/k/#-4693316015.
   • Token: Paste the HTTP API token from BotFather.
4. Click Sign In to connect to your Telegram channel.
   

That’s it! Your Telegram channel is now connected to the Revive Social plugin. Posts will be automatically shared to your audience based on your settings.
